Friday, April 21st American Indian Chamber Luncheon to feature Elaine Young, Manager of the Small Business Development Department of the Division of Economic Development, Navajo Nation. Young will share information about the Navajo Nation Economic Summit scheduled for May , 2017 at the Twin Arrows Navajo Casino Resort east of Flagstaff.

Elaine Young has over 25 years experience in the Small businesses/economic development, and in the federal government procurement arena, particularly for Native American business owners. In fall of 2009, Elaine joined the Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) of the American Indian Chamber Education Fund (AICEF) a sister organization of American Indian Chamber of Commerce of California. AICEF is a non-profit organization, providing procurement technical assistance to Indian businesses, tribal enterprises, and Alaskan Natives located in the State of Arizona, California, Nevada, and Utah. As a Program Manager, of the AICEF-PTAC, she provides a wide range of services to Native American businesses which includes training and seminars, individual counseling and access to bid opportunities, contract specifications, procurement histories, and other information necessary to successfully compete for government contracts. Prior to her position with the AICEF-PTAC, she worked as a Director of Education for the National Association of Small Business Contractors operated by the US Womens Chamber of Commerce in Washington DC. Other professional experience has been with the National Center for American Indian Enterprise Development in Mesa, Arizona, the Small Business Development Center at Northland Pioneer College, in Holbrook, Arizona, and a Community Planner with the Navajo Nation, Kayenta, Arizona. Elaine has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff, Arizona, and Accounting Certificate from Lamson College, Tempe, Arizona. In addition, she served 4 years on the Board of Arizona Clean and Beautiful (Non-profit environmental organization), Phoenix, AZ.
