May 19th Chamber Networking Luncheon – Let’s Talk Water!

Let’s Talk Water..

Presentations by two groups regarding water. Both will be presenting the importance of early water planning for a state, city or a tribal community.

Ms. Katosha Kakai, Manager of Stakeholder Relations and Strategic Development will speak about: CAP Water – A Critical Nexus to Tribal Economies.
Ms. Hannah Pierce, Tribal Development Lead and Mr. Dave Sobeck, Private Sector/Industrial Sector Lead will speak about: “Early Water Planning Essential for Community Growth.”
Ms. Katosha Belvin Nakai is an attorney who currently serves as the Manager of Stakeholder Relations & Strategic Development for the Central Arizona Project (CAP). She leads CAP’s outreach activities across its diverse stakeholder groups including Municipal & Industrial, Tribal and Agricultural water users and manages strategic planning development, implementation, and tracking.
Prior to joining CAP, Ms. Nakai served as Policy Advisor to Arizona Governor Jan Brewer providing advisement on energy, broadband, and tribal affairs. She also served as chair of Arizona’s Climate Change Oversight Group, as a member of Arizona’s Homeland Security Senior Advisory Committee, and was appointed by former Governor Janet Napolitano as a Commissioner of the Arizona Oil & Gas Conservation Commission.
Before her state service, Ms. Nakai practiced law at Lewis and Roca, LLP in Phoenix, as a law clerk to the Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, the largest federal appeals court in the country, and as a communications director for both the Denver-based American Indian College Fund and the Minnesota Department of Children Families & Learning.
Nakai, earned both her Juris Doctorate and her Indian Law Certificate from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications from Oklahoma City University. She is a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.
